Drawing a Pancake

Step 1:

We will draw a nice stack of pancakes in this guide on how to draw a pancake. For this, we will start by drawing the outlines of the first pancakes in the stack. First, draw a curved line for the top of the first pancake. You can then extend a few smaller curved lines down the sides of the first pancake.

So we’ll leave the pancakes for now, and the next thing we’ll do is draw another rounded line around the bottom to create the plate the pancakes are sitting on. Then you are ready for the second step of the guide!

Step 2:

In this second step of your pancake drawing, we’ll add more pancakes to the stack and draw more details for the plate. For the pancakes, draw a few more curved lines under the other pancakes. As you can see in the reference image, two spaces will be on either side of the pancake stack.

This is because some syrup will drip onto the pancakes in a later step. Once these additional pancake outlines have been drawn, you can finish by drawing another rounded stroke for the edge of the plate.

Step 3:

In the previous step of our how-to draw-a-pancake guide, we mentioned that there would be syrup running down the sides of the pancakes. You can draw a rounded line for the top of the syrup puddle that sits above the first pancake in a stack.

Then use curved lines to show it running around the sides where you left the spaces in the stack in the previous step. This syrup group may need to be detailed, but we’ll add more as we move through the following steps.

Step 4:

In this fourth part of your pancake drawing, you can continue to add more detail to the stack of pancakes.

This is a simple step, as you need to draw curved lines on the stack of pancakes. These lines will go down the center of the pancakes at the top of the stack and pass between the syrup trails that fall onto the stack. Once these details have been drawn, you are ready to move on to the final details in the next step of the guide.

Step 5:

You will finish the last details of the picture in this step of our guide on how to draw a pancake. These details will mainly focus on the puddle of syrup on top. You can start by drawing a 3D rectangle above the tip of the stick of butter. Next, draw curved line details on the puddle of syrup to give it more shape.

Once you’ve drawn these details, you’re ready to color your picture for the final step! But before getting there, we could add a few details to finish. Pancakes are often part of breakfast, so you can add other breakfast foods or beverages that you would like to enjoy with these pancakes.
